Mark Anderson

With over 38 years in forestry and land management and 15 years in real estate, Mark Anderson brings a rare blend of technical expertise and market insight to every client interaction. His career spans federal, municipal, and private sectors, equipping him to guide families and investors through the complex decisions involved in buying and selling land-based properties.

Mark began his career with the U.S. Forest Service, serving 13 years across Mississippi’s National Forests. There, he developed and implemented integrated land management strategies that balanced wildlife conservation, fire control, recreation, and timber production. He later led the Urban Forestry program for the City of Hattiesburg, MS, where he partnered with developers to promote smart growth and sustainable land use in urban settings.

Since 1998, Mark has operated as a private forestry consultant, managing timberlands for individual landowners, family estates, institutions, and land trusts. His deep understanding of forest ecosystems and land valuation makes him a trusted advisor for clients navigating both conservation and commercial goals.

Mark holds a Bachelor of Science in Forest Management from Mississippi State University and an Associate’s degree from Pearl River Community College. He completed advanced silviculture studies through programs at Clemson University, West Virginia University, and Syracuse University. He is a Mississippi Registered Forester and a licensed real estate broker in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Georgia.

Mark is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Mississippi Forestry Association, Forrest-Lamar County Forestry Association, Mississippi State University Forestry Advisory Board, USM Lake Thoreau Education Center Advisory Board, and the Piney Woods Chapter of the Land Trust for the Mississippi Coastal Plain.

He and his wife Lori live in the Hattiesburg, MS area, where they’ve raised their three children, Luke, Sarah, and John Mark.
