Steven D. Smith

Steven Smith brings more than three decades of forestry, timber, land management and real estate experience to America’s Land Partners. A 1993 graduate of Clemson University with a degree in Forest Resource Management, he began his career in the timber industry and became a licensed forester in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia.
Throughout his career, Steven has worked extensively in timber procurement, forest and land management and wood products manufacturing. In 2009, he founded Cross Creek Timber, LLC, a forestry and timber procurement company serving landowners throughout Upstate South Carolina. His work in the field has given him firsthand experience evaluating timber, understanding land productivity, identifying property attributes while helping landowners make informed decisions about their property. Recognizing that many of the landowners he worked with also needed knowledgeable assistance when buying or selling property, Steven expanded into real estate. He became a licensed real estate professional in 2009 and founded Cross Creek Realty, LLC in 2013. His real estate practice has focused on timberland, farms, recreational properties, development opportunities and acreage throughout South Carolina. Today, Steven brings that combination of forestry and real estate experience to America’s Land Partners. His background allows him to look beyond acreage and asking price to understand the characteristics that can influence a property's use and value—from timber and topography to access, utilities, development potential and
recreational opportunities. Whether representing a longtime landowner, an investor or someone searching for their own piece of land, Steven believes knowledgeable, straightforward advice and local experience are essential to a successful land transaction.
Steven and his wife have three children and live on their farm near Travelers Rest, South Carolina. Outside of real estate and forestry, he enjoys deer and bear hunting.
